Joanne joined TS Cloud in 2020. Throughout her journey, she has navigated various challenges with remarkable proactivity, rising from a Sales Executive to her current role as Department Head. Let’s get to know Joanne, our Sales Department Head, through this exclusive interview!
Beyond Limits: Embracing the Power of New Possibilities
What is your role and your core mission at TS Cloud?
I’ve officially reached my four-year anniversary since joining TS Cloud in 2020! These past four years have been an incredible journey where I’ve taken on various roles. Regardless of the position, I’ve always leveraged my high level of proactivity to solve problems. The roles and responsibilities I’ve held, and currently hold, are as follows:
Google Workspace Sales Executive
I was responsible for promoting Google Workspace solutions, assisting clients with deployment, and troubleshooting technical issues. Concurrently, I executed small-scale projects, such as developing the company’s E-commerce website and launching new 3CX services.
Project Manager
During this phase, I began communicating frequently with the CEO, learning to align my perspective with executive goals. My progression moved from managing internal initiatives to independently handling client-facing deployments. Ultimately, I reached a milestone where I was leading team members to achieve project deliverables while fostering their professional development.
Customer Success Manager
This marks my first appointment as a Department Head, and mentoring subordinates has been a completely new experience for me. Additionally, I am responsible for defining and mapping the Customer Journey, identifying diverse ways to provide value-added services, and systematically organising extensive client data to optimise our CRM database.
Sales Department Head
In my current role, I am responsible for leading the sales team to achieve our revenue targets. This includes lead generation and identifying new business opportunities, formulating sales strategies and action plans, and providing professional training to our sales team members.
What did your career look like before you transitioned to TS Cloud?
I graduated with a degree in Tourism Management. My first role after graduation was as a Wedding Planner and Banquet Sales Executive at a five-star hotel. My daily responsibilities included consulting with engaged couples or corporate entities to match them with suitable venues. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of their event requirements, I was responsible for drafting the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and distributing it to all hotel departments prior to the event. On the day of the event, I also served as the Event Coordinator, ensuring that operations ran smoothly.
What was the primary reason you decided to join TS Cloud?
Shortly after leaving the hospitality industry, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. I began searching for a role that supported remote work while allowing me to maintain a healthy work-life balance with dedicated personal time after hours and on weekends. During the pandemic, TS Cloud proved to be the perfect fit for these requirements.
Zero Cliques, Total Synergy: Inside Our High-Performance Culture
What do you find most fulfilling about this role?
Previously, I only knew how to achieve targets on my own. However, in 2023, we set an ambitious goal to plan and close deployments for at least 100 new clients within just two months. Through this, I learned how to streamline the process by delegating tasks and supporting my team members. Ultimately, we didn’t just meet our target—we exceeded it, and I was rewarded with a company trip to Japan to celebrate the cherry blossom season! This experience taught me that achieving goals doesn’t have to be a solo struggle; through team collaboration and mutual support, we can achieve a win-win outcome.
As a Department Leader, what is your management philosophy?
My aspiration is for every team member to grow and surpass their own expectations. Within our team, I encourage everyone to embrace mistakes and failures, as failure provides the best opportunity to identify underlying issues. It is only when we identify these problems that we can make the necessary optimisations; and through these adjustments, we achieve continuous progress. Furthermore, I aim to build a collaborative team that grows alongside the company by identifying individual strengths and advocating for an excellent work environment and competitive benefits.
What do you consider your greatest takeaways from joining TS Cloud?
In this environment, I don’t have to expend energy navigating office politics; instead, I can focus entirely on my work. Combined with the opportunities and flexibility provided by the company, I am empowered to explore various initiatives, accumulate valuable experience, and expand my professional horizons to reach my full potential.
What is your personal vision and the goals you aim to achieve here?
My vision is to lead a team of high-calibre professionals. I aim to train them to be self-disciplined in executing every task, ensuring that even in a remote work environment, they continue to grow and pursue increasingly ambitious targets.
How would you describe TS Cloud as a company?
- A Collaborative Work Environment: Our corporate culture prioritises objective discussions focused on the task at hand rather than personal critique. Consequently, employees can work without the concern of office politics or cliques.
- Cultivating Proactivity and Innovation: We actively encourage team members to take initiative and share their ideas.
- Emphasis on Team Collaboration: We foster a culture where collective effort and mutual support are the foundations of our success.
- Investing in Talent Development: We are committed to allocating time and resources to nurture professional growth and cultivate high-calibre talent.
In your view, what are the company’s strength and weaknesses?
In my view, the strength of TS Cloud lies in the diversified nature of the work; it’s never stagnant and constantly stimulates critical thinking. On the other hand, an area for improvement is the perceived lack of a centralized command, which can lead to fragmented workflows. When objectives shift frequently, it can sometimes feel as though our efforts are being diluted.
The Power of We: Finding Fulfillment in Growing Together
From Sales Executive to Department Head, what has been the driving force behind your rapid growth?
I have always had a very competitive nature. I pride myself on being able to identify and resolve problems, which often meant I was the first to charge to the front lines when challenges arose. Previously, I didn’t fully grasp the importance of team collaboration. While I achieved minor successes along the way, I would ultimately feel an inexplicable sense of exhaustion rather than the fulfilment I had anticipated.
Consequently, I committed to self-improvement, investing significant time into learning interpersonal dynamics, trust, and how to rely on others. I am deeply grateful to the company for providing me with this leadership opportunity. Through a continuous process of trial and error, I gradually found a balance. By learning to recognise the unique strengths of my colleagues, I was finally able to move away from a “solo-fighter” work style.
Now, I truly enjoy the fulfillment and joy that comes from team collaboration, where the result is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
