Leading by Example: My Journey Toward Disciplined Excellence

What is your role and your mission at TS Cloud?

I joined TS Cloud in 2021, primarily focusing on Software Development. Initially, my role centered on automating or semi-automating various internal administrative workflows to improve operational efficiency. Following a shift in corporate strategy, we transitioned toward developing integrated SaaS solutions, launching products and services designed for external markets. Recently, the company introduced Consultancy Services, where a dedicated team identifies client requirements and pain points. Once a proposal is approved, I step in as the Project Manager (PM) to lead the project team and ensure the successful delivery of the service.

What did your career look like before you transitioned to TS Cloud?

Prior to joining TS Cloud, I served as a Research Assistant at a university and later as an Engineer in the consultancy industry. During my time as a Research Assistant, I primarily executed research projects assigned by professors, which involved modifying numerical models, data visualization, and drafting research reports. Eventually, I decided to transition into a field outside of my original specialization. I was motivated by a desire to expand my technical breadth and felt that the academic environment had become somewhat too stagnant, lacking the sense of novelty I craved. This led me to join the Engineering Consultancy sector.

In the engineering consultancy, my work revolved primarily around projects for government agencies. This role taught me how to draft service proposals and plan as well as execute various projects, which made me well-versed in the government tendering and procurement processes. Unlike the academic environment, the industry prioritises completing tasks with both speed and precision. A hallmark of the consultancy sector is the need to master and integrate diverse knowledge within extremely tight deadlines. Working in such a high-pressure environment meant constantly refining both my technical skills and mental resilience, leading to rapid professional growth.

What was the primary reason you decided to join TS Cloud?

After nearly three years in the engineering consultancy industry, I felt a strong desire to accumulate a broader range of experiences. By chance, I came across a recruitment advertisement for an engineer at TS Cloud. After browsing through the company profile, I felt it was a vibrant and intriguing organization, which inspired me to join the team.

Through several rounds of interviews, I asked many questions regarding the company culture and job requirements. The fact that TS Cloud was so open and willing to provide detailed answers gave me the impression of a very mature work environment. At the same time, I recognized that this role would be challenging, and I felt fortunate to be offered the position.

What do you find most fulfilling about this role?

Whenever I transform a task that previously required significant manual labor and time into an automated workflow, I experience a profound sense of achievement. Recently, I successfully automated the company’s contract renewal process. From initial requirement gathering and resource allocation to coding, iterative communication, development, and testing—culminating in the final demonstration to the project stakeholders—receiving their positive feedback made the entire journey incredibly rewarding!

What do you consider your greatest takeaways from joining TS Cloud?

The opportunity to collaborate with international colleagues has been my greatest takeaway since joining the company. Learning how to set aside background differences and focus solely on working together to complete tasks has been an invaluable experience. Because our team members come from such diverse backgrounds, our perspectives on problem-solving have become much more multifaceted. To ensure clarity when explaining complex issues, my communication and presentation skills have also improved significantly. Furthermore, due to the business synergy between TS Cloud and its regional branches, I’ve had many opportunities for international business travel—something that was quite rare in my previous roles.

What is your personal vision and the goals you aim to achieve here?

Setting a Benchmark for Excellence: I aspire to be a role model who establishes clear and reasonable professional standards, executes them with rigor, and maintains a commitment to continuous self-reflection. By leading by example and consistently delivering results, I aim to inspire my colleagues to excel alongside me. Ultimately, I want to be the driving force that empowers the entire team to grow together.

Is there a colleague in the company whom you particularly admire?

There are three in total:

  • My Manager, Jin Sheng: He possesses a mature personality and always maintains a calm and balanced composure. When faced with challenges, he is thoughtful and deliberate, with an ability to explain complex matters with great clarity. He is a role model I aspire to emulate.
  • General Manager, Sylvia: She possesses a remarkable ability to swiftly deconstruct complex issues and identify their core. By systematically outlining the strategic direction for solutions, she demonstrates a level of analytical precision that I deeply admire.
  • Karen: Since joining the company, I have never seen her lose her temper with a client or colleague; she consistently focuses on the situation at hand, identifying solutions through a step-by-step approach. Given my own tendency to get frustrated more easily, I deeply admire her high level of Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

How would you describe TS Cloud as a company?

In my view, TS Cloud is a company that relentlessly pursues operational efficiency and embraces change and new information with agility. Our team is largely composed of young, dedicated professionals who take full ownership of their responsibilities, ensuring every task is completed to the highest standard. While the workload can be demanding, most colleagues maintain an objective mindset—analysing challenges and seeking solutions through logic rather than emotion. Consequently, the work environment strikes a perfect balance: professional and focused, yet inherently vibrant and fulfilling.

In Your View, What Are The Company’s Strength And Weaknesses?

The strengths:

  • Once a goal is established, the company frequently mobilises the entire team to achieve it within a tight timeframe, requiring us to execute with maximum efficiency. The advantage of this approach is that the organisation demonstrates exceptionally high agility and strong execution capabilities.
  • The work environment is excellent; in addition to the bright lighting and ambient background music, the office is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. Housekeeping duties are managed by staff on a rotational basis, an arrangement that I personally find very effective.
  • The learning stipends and fitness subsidies provided by the company demonstrate a clear commitment to investing in employees, encouraging us to pursue continuous growth and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This investment further motivates me to better manage my personal development through reading and regular physical exercise.

Areas for Improvement:

The company’s high level of agility can occasionally result in a perception of excessive volatility and haste. A lack of meticulous planning and formalised systems can, at times, lead to operational inconsistencies.
